Dedicated and passionate Mid-Wales honey producers, Hilltop Honey, are investing in their beloved honey bees by updating and launching a new Adopt a Bee campaign – with a percentage of the profits going towards the Honeypot Children’s Charity.
The bee campaign has been in existence for a few years and has an astounding range of followers (including some celebrities) and has been a popular item amongst budding beekeepers, honey lovers and Secret Santa’s (Yes, we just dropped the S word!) Previously members who opted to adopt, would receive a jar of honey, a newsletter, an adoption sign up form and a sheet of facts but now the re-launched mega bumper pack will include a whole range of exciting goodies including:
The best news yet is that 25% of the profit from Adopt a Bee sales will go to the very deserving Honeypot Children’s Charity. Since 1996 Honeypot has been working to enhance the lives of young carers and vulnerable children aged 5 – 12 years old. They are the only charity in the UK to provide respite breaks and on-going outreach support throughout a child’s formative years. Honeypot gives young carers a break from demanding and stressful responsibilities at home and provides a safe, nurturing environment where children at risk can develop their full potential.
Bees are one of our most familiar and loved insects, but they are under threat. There has been an overall decline in wild and honey bees over the past 50 years. Honey bees are so important, not only for their production of honey, but for their pollination efforts. One out of every three bites of food we eat is a result of pollinators like honey bees, and crops like blueberries and cherries are 90% dependent on pollination. They are critical pollinators – they pollinate 70 of the around 100 crop species that feed 90% of the world. This act of pollination is vital for agriculture, horticulture, and food production – and to put it simply, bees really do help to feed our nation.
Since bees invest so much in us and our environment, Hilltop Honey is encouraging its customers to do the same in return. Obviously, Hilltop Honey cannot dispatch your adopted bee out to you but will send you a few Hilltop Honey goodies and your very own bee passport, so you can really feel a part of the buzzing bee community.
Scott Davies, Managing Director, Hilltop Honey, said; “we’re so pleased to be refreshing and improving our Adopt a Bee campaign. We’ve received overwhelming interest in this campaign over the last few years and it’s one of the top selling items on our website! Adopt a Bee is a perfect gift idea for any inquisitive honey lover and now with a percentage of profits going towards the Honeypot Children’s Charity, you can be left ‘buzzin’ that your £10 has been very well spent!”
